Trevarez
Trevarez is a beautiful Renaissance castle which was totally restored during the 19th century. It served as a rest and recuperation centre for German and Japanese officers during World War II. Today the castle is publicly owned and the splendid castle grounds are the site of many horticultural exhibitions throughout the year. It is especially known for its magnificent hydrangeas, rhododendrons, fuchsias and azaleas.
If you come to Trevarez, you absolutely must go to the nearby chapels of Saint Barbe and Saint Fiacre both of which date back to the end of the Middle Ages. Both are splendid architectural monuments with the latter preserving one of the few rood screens left in Western Europe.
